School Report Card

February 2025

Dear McGlynn Middle School Parents & Caregivers,

Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. A link to our school’s report card is available at School and District Report Cards

The report card includes multiple measures of a school’s performance – more than just MCAS scores. It represents another way of looking at school performance by providing information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more.  Report cards are designed to be useful tools for everyone connected to our school. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school. Further details regarding the School and District Report Cards can be found at the following links:

Massachusetts uses information related to progress toward improvement targets, accountability percentiles, graduation rates, and MCAS participation rates to determine each district and school's overall classification. Most districts and schools are placed into two categories: those that require assistance or intervention from the state, and those that do not require assistance or intervention.

The McGlynn Middle School is in the category of “not requiring assistance or intervention.” Our school has been classified as making “substantial progress toward targets” for accountability measures.

We are working to improve student outcomes in our school in the following ways:

  • Staff professional development and coaching in the areas of high leverage instructional strategies that are aligned with our district’s instructional vision to employ across the school to improve student outcomes.
  • Work with individual students and families to address chronic absenteeism which impacts continuity of instruction and student outcomes.
  • Employ the use of NWEA MAP Assessments as a tool to collect data to inform curriculum and instructional decisions in order to improve student outcomes.

We encourage you to become involved in helping us improve our school. We see parents as critical partners in the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for your continued support.

If you have questions about our school’s report card, would like to become involved in school improvement activities, or would like to request information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher, please contact me.
